Education Minister Tasks Teachers On Performance  print

Minister of Education, Professor Ruqayyatu Ahmed Rufai has called on both primary and Junior Secondary School Teachers to give their best in the ongoing nationwide capacity building workshops for primary and junior secondary school teachers.

Rufai disclosed this at the flag-off ceremony of the Capacity Building Workshops for Primary and Secondary School Teachers at the event Centre, Lagos.

The Federal Ministry of Education in conjunction with  the National Teacher’s Institute, NTI, Kaduna, have carefully selected teachers from teacher training institutions and Nigerian universities to train 40,000 teachers of primary and junior secondary schools on current strategies and techniques of teaching.

Rufai said the Federal Government has committed itself to the improvement of quality teaching and learning at all levels of education and urged the teachers to give their best throughout the programme.

“I want to urge the participants to see this workshop as an opportunity to better their teaching career. The programme will help the participants to know more about the modern day teaching and learning which will help our teachers to impact knowledge to our children in the classroom,” she said.

During the workshop, the JSS teachers will be drilled on the four core subjects such as English, mathematics, Social Studies and Basic Science and Basic Technology while the primary school teachers will be trained on language Communication Skills, Effective Classroom Management Skills, Basic Teaching Methods and Information and Communication Technology.

Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Olayinka Oladunjoye said the state government will continue to give attention to education and ready to give the state teachers necessary support to excel in their career.
