SENATOR Andy Uba has pledged sustained assistance and full support to Omambala people as they recover from the flood disaster, which ravaged many communities in Anambra East, Anambra West, Ayamelum and Oyi local councils respectively, last year.

Uba, who represents Anambra South in the Senate, made the pledge of his readiness to continue to offer assistance to Omambala people during his last weekend post-flood disaster visit to Aguleri.

Speaking to key members of Omambala Progressive Movement drawn from different political parties and 52 political wards in the designated four local councils at the Tourist Garden Hotel, Aguleri, Uba said he was optimistic that Anambra would continue to grow and experience a better leadership as it enters another crucial period of its history.

He recalled that he was among the public-spirited individuals who responded to the distress call of the people at the peak of the flood disaster and personally donated to the flood victims relief materials worth millions of Naira.

Uba stated that the major challenge was how to fully rehabilitate and resettle the people that were affected by the flood disaster. He thanked all those who responded positively to the cry of the flood victims, especially President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan who obliged his request and included Anambra State among the worst affected states by the flood, which qualified the state to receive the N500,000,000 from the Federal Government for the flood victims.

Uba commended the representatives of Omambala people in the National Assembly and the State House of Assembly for working harmoniously with him.

Responding on behalf of Omambala people, Obinna Emenaka, who represents Anambra East constituency in the State House of Assembly, thanked Uba for making out time to visit the area. He commended Uba for being a good friend of the Omambala people, while assuring him of their full support at all times.

Chriscato Ameke, who represents Anambra East and West in the Federal House of Representatives, Chief Alex Uzuegbunam, Frank Ekwunife, Elder Okpalukwu were among the key Omambala politicians who gave Uba a rousing reception.
