1. President Buhari begs for patience and understanding over new minimum wage

President Muhammadu Buhari has called on Nigerian workers to exercise patience and understanding as his administration address issues of a new minimum wage.

The president made the appeal at the 12th National Delegates Conference of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) on Tuesday in Abuja.

2. ASUU conducts nationwide referendum over lingering strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Tuesday conducted a nationwide referendum to determine whether to suspend its three-month strike or not.

Naija News learned that ASUU national leaders directed its zonal coordinators on Monday to meet and conduct the referendum.

3. Tambuwal sacks commissioner for decamping to APC

Sokoto state governor, Aminu Tambuwal on Tuesday, February 4, sacked the Commissioner of Information, Mr Bello Muhammad-Goronyo, for defecting to the All Progressives Congress.

The director -general, Media and Public Relations, Malam Abubakar Shekara, disclosed this in Abuja on Tuesday.

4. No town captured by Boko Haram – Army

The Nigerian Army, Operation Lafiya Dole theatre command has debunked the rumours making the rounds on the internet that five towns have been taken over by the Boko Haram terrorist goup.

The fake news report which surfaced online in the wake of Tuesday, suggested that the five communities were claimed from Adamawa state.

5. Buhari goofs in Ekiti, says he came into power in 2005

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, made another gaffe during the presidential rally in Ekiti, Southwest Nigeria, saying he and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), came into power in 2005 as against May 29, 2015.

Naija News reports that President Buhari was trying to remind the people that his party was conscious of the promises it made in 2015 when he made the blunder.

6. Ambode presents N852bn 2019 Lagos budget to lawmakers

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos state has on Tuesday, presented a 2019 budget proposal of N852.316b before lawmakers at the state House of Assembly.

A breakdown of the budget presentation shows a recurrent expenditure of 385.6billion, Capital expenditure of 462.7billion and a capital recurrent ratio of 54-46.

7. FG seeking to force Onnoghen to resign at gun point – CUPP alleges

The Coalition of United Political Parties said that it has uncovered a plan by the Federal Government to force the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, to resign “at gun point.”

It said the decision was taken after Onnoghen turned down “all mouth-watering offers” made to him.

8. Shiites say they are ready to die for El-Zakzaky

Members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), popularly known as Shi’ites, today, re-stated their resolve to secure the release of their leader, Sheik Ibrahim El-zakzaky.

The Shiite members vowed not to back down until their leader and his wife, Zeenat are released from government custody where they have been since 2015.

Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha on Monday revealed more details on his grievances with Adams Oshiomhole, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Okorocha said he regrets supporting Oshiomhole to become National Chairman of the APC as he has since proved to be unreliable.

10. Senator Marafa’s sister killed, husband kidnapped as bandits burn Zamfara village

The elder sister of Senator representing Zamfara central, Kabir Marafa has been killed and her husband kidnapped by suspected bandits.

Abubakar Tsafe, an aide to the senator, confirmed the development, adding that the bandits attacked the residence of the senator’s sister located at Ruwan Bore area of Gusau local government area on Tuesday.
