South Africa coach Mosimane to learn Bafana fate

| June 4, 2012 | 0 Comments

The fate of South Africa coach Pitso Mosimane will be revealed by the country’s football association (Safa) later.

Safa have been meeting all day to discuss his future, following Bafana Bafana’s disappointing 1-1 draw with Ethiopia in 2014 World Cup qualifying.

The Chief Executive of Safa, Robin Peterson, has gone to the team’s base and will release a statement shortly.

South Africa’s display at the weekend was widely criticised.

“We don’t want to accept reality, things have not been going well since we won the 1996 Nations Cup but we are not changing the formula,” Mosimane told reporters afterwards.

Mosimane’s position has been under pressure for some time.

He was in charge when the country misunderstood the qualification criteria for the Cup of Nations in 2012, and

played out a draw against Sierra Leone, when they needed a win to go through.

South Africa play Botswana in the second match of their 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign next weekend.
