The Rivers State Government is set to inaugurate the N60million Aqua Culture farms in Ndoni, Opobo and Ubima communities.

Special Adviser to the Governor Chibuike Amaechi on Deep Water,Mr. Korotamunor Briggs, made the revelation yesterday when youths of Opobo community paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Port Harcourt.

He said the first phase of the farm would commence this month (August) in the designated locations across the State.

Briggs said: “The N60million Aqua project is to empoweryouths of Rivers State. Some of the youths will be trained in the area of aqua faming,” adding that the success of the first batch of trainees would encourage others to sign in.

“Very soon, we are going to establish the farming everywhere in the state as long as they are ready to acquire the knowledge and ready to be empowered to become self-reliant.”

He, therefore, advised the youths to utilize the opportunities and become future millionaires and employers of labour, instead of being idle. “There is no opportunity greater than this; I want the youths of to understand that the government wants them to be self-reliant. We are going to extend it to other part of the state as long as more youths are showing interest on it. It is one of the empowerment programmes initiated by the state government to assist the youths of the State.”
