Okorocha: Onwuliri’s Death, a Monumental Loss to Imo

Imo State Governor, Rochas Anayo Okorocha has described the death of the former Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO),
Prof. Celestine Onwuliri as a monumental loss to Imo State and Nigeria.
Onwuliri was among the 153 passengers reported to have died in the ill-fated Dana Air Crash of Sunday, 3rd June in Lagos.
Okorocha who spoke during a valedictory executive session by the State Executive Council (SEC) in honour of Onwuliri who was a two-time commissioner for Information, Youths and Sports and Agriculture in Imo, expressed sadness over the loss of the scholar and about 36 others from Imo State in the crash.
The governor, who led other members of the State Executive Council to receive Onwuliri’s body added that Igbos had shed more blood than any other tribe for the unity of Nigerian and prayed God to give the bereaved families the fortitude to bear the loss.
Also at the special sitting, the state government ratified and approved the establishment of 3/6 Memorial Park for the victims; donation of N50 million to the affected families as well as seek a legal action to ensure adequate compensation for the victims.
Also speaking, Deputy Governor of the state, Sir Jude Agbaso, described late Onwuliri as a worthy son that contributed immensely in the development of the state and Nigeria.
