The Catholic Archbishop of Onitsha, Most Rev. Dr. Valerian Okeke is a profoundly happy man.

He is happy at what he described as uncommon transformation of AnambraState under Gov. Peter Obi. He expressed the sentiments yesterday while receiving the cheque of 30 million Naira for on-going project at St CharlesBorromeoHospital, Onitsha.

Speaking further, the Cleric said that contrary to the story of lamentations in AnambraState of the past, of unpaid salary/pension, bad road and unresponsiveness of leaders, that AnambraState of today was full of story of paid pension/salaries, rebuilding of hospitals and schools, and reconstruction of roads, responsiveness and fear God.

The Anglican Bishop Owen Nwokolo who received N40 million Naira for on-going projects at IyienuHospital described Anambra under Gov. Obi as a place experiencing the hands of God.

He said that the Governor had abolished the era of uncompleted projects. He assured the Governor of continued deployment of the resources made available to them judiciously.

Speaking at the event, the State Commissioner for Planning and Budget, Prof. Chinyere Okunna said that the concern of the Government was on how to reach the people of the State more readily for them to benefit from the interventions of the Government.

“We are partnering with the Church becuase they already have the structures. Besides, their services are mostly for charity and not with the aim of making money”, she submitted.
