Nigeria: South South Youths Fault Call for Petroleum Minister’s Sack

| July 3, 2012 | 0 Comments

Port Harcourt — South South youth leaders’ forum has described recent call for the sack of Minister of Petroleum, Mrs Diezani-Allison Madueke by some members of House of Representatives, as misplaced.

Chairman of the group, Mr. Amachree Odiedim in a statement, yesterday, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, said the House had lost the confidence it enjoyed among Nigerians because of the development around the oil subsidy probe.

The group said the House should concern itself more on how to win back the confidence and trust of Nigerians than seeking the removal of the Minister of Petroleum, Mrs Madueke.

The group wondered why the House of Representatives could claim to be fighting corruption with the degree of scandal that had rocked it in the last two months.

The group hailed the recent appointments in Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, describing the action of President Goodluck Jonathan as a step in the right direction.
