NFF Throws Weight Behind Nationwide League

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has promised to collaborate with the board of the Nigeria Nationwide League (NNWL) on strategies to embark on sponsorship drive for the league.

NFF president, Aminu Maigari stated that the federation will throw its weight behind the league since it is the bedrock of football development.

He said for the nation’s football to grow and be sustained, its foundation like the Nationwide League must be serviced well and supported to enable its continuous production of talents that will service the Premier League clubs and national teams.

He commended the board for their determination in changing the face of the Amateur League to more organised and result oriented Nationwide League. “I commend the board for the success recorded so far and urge you to do more. We are going to work closely with you in form of collaboration for sponsorship drive. For any nation’s football to move forward, its foundation must be serviced well,” he said.

Chairman of Nationwide League, Ahmad Muazu Kawu said the board would take necessary measures to popularise the Nigerian Nationwide League (NNWL) by senitising the system.

He called on the government and corporate organisations to support the league, adding that the performance of home based players at the recently concluded Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa which Nigeria won has shown that good things can come out of the local league.
