New police commissioners deployed ahead of elections; Tinubu’s ex CSO takes over in Kwara

– Kayode Egbetokun, a former CSO to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has been appointed as the commissioner of police for Kwara state

– With the deployment, Egbetokun will oversee the elections in Kwara, which alongside the rest of the country, is scheduled to begin on Saturday, February 16

– Edgal Imohimi, will also be replaced by CP Mu’azu Zubairu as commissioner of police for Lagos state

– The police commissioners are reportedly expected to immediately head to their new commands, ahead of the general elections

Kayode Egbetokun, a former chief security officer to the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has been appointed as the commissioner of police for Kwara state.

Egbetokun’s appointment and deployment alongside 36 others, was approved by the Police Service Commission (PSC), Punch reports.

Legit.ng gathers that Egbetokun, with the deployment, will oversee the elections in Kwara, which alongside the rest of the country, is scheduled to begin on Saturday, February 16.

The appointments reportedly came following a recommendation to the PSC by the acting inspector general of police, Mohammed Adamu.

The PSC’s spokesman, Ikechukwu Ani, issued a statement in Abuja on Tuesday, February 5, containing details of the approval and deployment.

Edgal Imohimi, will also be replaced by CP Mu’azu Zubairu as commissioner of police for Lagos state, with the approval of the recommendation.

The commissioners of police and the states they are deployed in are: “Buba Sanusi, Katsina state; Mohammed Wakili, Kano state; Rabiu Ladodo, Jigawa state; Ahmed Iliyasu, Ogun state; Mu’azu Zubairu, Lagos state; Ibrahim Sabo, Niger state; Alkassam Sanusi, Taraba state; Garba M. Mukaddas, Adamawa state; Omololu Bishi, Benue state; Bola Longe, Nassarawa state; Isaac Akinmoyede, Plateau state; Odumosu Hakeem, Edo state; Olushola David, Bayelsa state; Adeleke Yinka, Delta state; Austin Iwero Agbonlahor, Cross Rivers state; Bashir Makama, Akwa Ibom state; Awosola Awotunde, Ebonyi state; Belel Usman, Rivers state; Bello Makwashi, Gombe state and Abdulrahman Ahmed, Kaduna state.”

Others are: “Bala Ciroma, FCT; Egbetokun Kayode, Kwara state; Hakeem Busari, Kogi state; Asuquo Amba, Ekiti state; Galadanchi Dasuki, Imo state; Suleiman Balarabe, Enugu state; Dandaura Mustapha, Anambra state; Etim Ene Okon, Abia state; Ibrahim Kaoje, Sokoto state; Celestine Okoye, Zamfara state; Garba Danjuma, Kebbi state; Abiodun Ige, Osun state; Undie Adie, Ondo state; Olukolu Shina, Oyo state; Ali Janga, Bauchi state; Damian Chukwu, Bornu state and Sumonu Abdulmalik, Yobe state.”

The CPs are reportedly expected to immediately head to their new commands as the 2019 general elections get set to commence.

Recall that Legit.ng previously reported that Edgal Imohimi told reporters in the afternoon of Tuesday, January 15, at the command headquarters, Ikeja GRA,that he remained the Lagos state commissioner of police.

Imohimi said he received a call from Police Headquarters in Abuja that there was no change of guard in the Lagos Police Command. Imohimi, who had invited the press to witness the handing- and taking over ceremony between himself and Kayode Egbetokun, said they were about concluding the process when they received a directive from Abuja to suspend the action.
