Lawmaker Condemns Poor State of Environment in Imo

Owerri — A legislator in Imo State House of Assembly, Samuel Anyanwu, has condemned the present poor state of environment in Owerri and other parts of the state.

The lawmaker contributing to a motion on the floor of the House yesterday attributed the cause of the decay to the scraping of the monthly clean up exercise by the present administration.

He said that the state cannot be regarded as the cleanest in the country as it used to be because of its present condition.

Anyanwu regretted over the level of refuse scattered in all parts of the capital city with less attention to the scooping and cleaning of gutters in the streets of Owerri.

He called on Governor Rochas Okorocha to hasten up and re-introduce the regular monthly clean up exercise in the state to ensure that the issue was addressed.

He said that measure would re- inculcate into citizens of the state the same spirit of caring for their environment regularly.

He called on the Environmental Transformation Committee (ENTRACO) to step up their action at ensuring that Imo environment was regularly kept clean.
