– Kanu Nwankwo has broken silence on the new Super Eagles’ jersey

– The Ex-Nigerian international expressed his satisfaction towards the new kits

– Kanu, however, submitted that former Nigerian players should be involved in the future

Former Nigerian international, Kanu Nwankwo, has expressed admiration for the newly-unveiled Super Eagles’ jersey, though made some reservations towards how the initiative was handled by the NFF, Nigeria’s football governing body.

Legit.ng recalls that the new jersey was unveiled by sports kit manufacturing giants Nike on February 5 after being inspired by the traditional agbada wear.

The last design for the national team was accepted globally and was named the best kit of the Russia 2018 World Cup.

And after almost two years, the three-time African champions made a stunning U-turn on a new kind of mind-blowing green and white jersey.

Nike explained that the design, which is a fusion of traditional aesthetic of an agbada robe and modern western design, is a right pick for the national team eyeing 2022 AFCON tournament.

“In 2020, Nigeria picks up right where they left off with a home kit that fuses the traditional aesthetic of an agbada robe with a modern football design,” Nike said.

Reacting to the jersey change, Kanu Nwankwo commended the initiative as a good one. He, however, submitted that the opinion of ex-internationals should be sought in the future.

“I do like the jersey,” Kanu

“But in the future when they are doing things like this, ex-internationals should be carried along in order to feel our own opinion.”
