Ghanaian defender, Basha Mohammed, has joined former Nigerian champions, Dolphins of Port Harcourt.

The Nigerian side have maintained their romance with Ghanaian import despite the exit of Owusu Addae, James Amankwei and Seidu Abuu.

Mohammed played for Ghanaian side, Berekum Arsenal, before heading for a fresh adventure in Nigeria.

“I’m happy with the chance to play for Dolphins. The club is not strange to me since I’ve heard about their exploits. I hope to contribute my quota to the success of the team,” Mohammed told supersport.com.

The former Berekum Arsenal left back was with Dolphins for a pre-season tournament in Lagos.

Dolphins secretary, Ahmed Abdulrahman, confirmed the presence of the new import.

“Mohammed has been registered to play for Dolphins,” the former Dolphins captain said.

Unlike Mohammed, it was a different story for another import, Yusuf Mutawakil.

Dolphins could not conclude the registration of Mutawakil to enable him play in Nigeria.

“We’ve been in contact with Mutawakil, but he arrived late,” Abdulrahman stated.

Mutawakil, a central defender, has played for Heart of Lions, Berekum Chelsea and Wassama United, respectively in the Ghana league

“I have to return home because Dolphins have a 30-man squad for the new season,” the central defender said

The duo of Addae and Abuu, who were with the Port Harcourt side last term have headed for greener pastures.

“Addae and Abuu won’t play for us in the new season,” Abdulrahman said.

Amankwei, the third Ghanaian who joined the duo of Owusu and Abuu has returned to Jos where he made his name with relegated JUTH to play for Plateau United.
