WorldStage Newsonline– Former Minister of Water Transport, Prince John Emeka, has commended the Anambra State Governor, Mr. Peter Obi, over his support for power shift in the state, stating that the Governor’s insistence that Anambra North be allowed to produce the next Governor of the state, had distinguished him as a true democrat.

Speaking in Onitsha during a thank-you-party organized for his supporters in Anambra North Senatorial zone, Prince Emeka, said that Governor Obi, had openly thrown his weight behind the zone in its agitation to govern the state since its creation in 1991.

“Our ambition to govern the state has always been scuttled by problem of credible platform but the Governor has offered us a platform and we are grateful to him,” he said.

He said, Anambra North had enough human and material resources to clinch the number one office, stating that, “the recent endorsement of the zone by the State Governor, has stimulated our ambition to a level of struggle and we appeal to our brothers from other zones to support the Governor’s stand, which is democratic and fair.”

The former Minister who lost the Senatorial seat to late Chuba Okadigbo’s widow after a stiff legal battle, disclosed that the party was organized to appreciate his teeming supporters who stood by him during and after the elections, adding that, “after the Court ruling, I went abroad for vacation, to reflect on the nation’s democracy, to know the short comings and possible solutions and now that I am back, it is proper that I bring my people together and say thank you for your support and encouragement.”
