Eagles play Cape Verde on Jan 9

The friendly match between the Super Eagles and Cape Verde will take place on Wednesday, January 9 at the Algarve Stadium, Faro, Portugal at 9pm Nigerian time.

The Blue Sharks of Cape Verde and the Nigerian team are using the match to prepare for the Africa Nations Cup which starts on January 19 in South Africa.

Euro Data Sport Ltd, an official match agency of the Nigeria Football Federation said the match was being put together with the support of Brown Sports Leisure, Algarve, in order to prepare Nigeria for the continental tourney.

The match is coming up on the final day given by the Confederation of African Football for the submission of all team lists for the 16 teams taking part in the competition.

Nigeria Sports Minister, Bolaji Abdulahi, will visit the team in Faro before the matchday. He praised the team for the good performance against the Catalonia side which included seven Barcelona FC first team players. He said President Goodluck Jonathan would be happy to watch Nigeria play in the final on February 10.

“Mr. President has said he will like to come and watch the final involving Nigeria and any other country, I’m now very sure that you will make the President’s dream come true”, he said in a statement read by NFF president Aminu Maigari.
