Delta Battles Cross Rivers in NYSC Games Football Final

Action continued yesterday in the ongoing Fidelity Bank -NYSC 2013 Games in Abuja with Team Delta beating Team Osun 4-2 on penalties after ending 0-0 in regulation time qualify for the final coming up tomorrow at the old parade ground sports complex.

In the other semi-final match, Team Cross River edged out Team Nasarawa 5-3 on penalties after playing 1-1 to set up the final match with Team Delta.

Two female volley matches decided yesterday saw Team Edo beating Nasarawa 3-0 just as Team Kebbi thrashed Team Rivers 3-0.

On the opening day of the sports fiesta, two football matches were played and Team Delta defeated Team Kaduna 4-2, Cross River beat Edo 2-0, Osun defeated Gombe 2-0, and Nasarawa pipped Kebbi 1-0.

In female volleyball matches played on the same day, Delta beat Edo 3-0, Gombe lost 0-3 to Nasarawa, Niger lost 1-3 to Rivers and Kebbi out spiked Lagos 3-0.

Today is rest day for sports as cultural aspect of the festival takes centre stage. The closing ceremony comes up tomorrow at the old parade ground.
