@ Unstoppable, you need to get your thinking straight, Mr Saintfield is a tested and proven fella in the field of grass root development, and he doesn’t need to know all the villages and tract roads in the remote areas of Nig to get the job done.
If for instance it is announced in a local radio that Mr. Saintfield will be coming to …lets say Orlu Zone for grass root football development and to fish out talents, honestly speaking, all the promising youths in that zone and beyond will gather at the venue to showcase their talent. In fact his coming will get to the ears of every young footballer even those that don’t listen to radio as the young lads will pass the message to their fellows in evening’s football which is common in almost any where there is a play ground and in schools as well.
The Belgian will see so many crowds than he can even imagine more especially being a Caucasian as the youths will try to impress as par ‘who knows, maybe he will take me to Belgium or I may gain a place in the Nig U16.’
His job starts there and then. Remember that we have local government sports councils and I am sure they will be more willing to assist the white man than certain …lets say Ladan Bosso who is unpopular and unknown to the kids.
That apart, the white guy will do the job without bias and favoritism and has better strategy and technique than most of the guys who will be lobbying to get the job now.
Mr Saintfield has done the job over and over again in some African countries that has fewer talents and will be a big hit if he is given the job in Nigeria.
This is not an outsider’s perspective from a long distance as I played the game from my youth and in the league before I left the country long ago so I know what I am talking.

Gone are those days where 9geria were powerhouse of African football I used to cross night whenever 9geria play but their current generation of players make me sleep in the sit when they play.I respect and salute Samson Siasa,JJ Okocha,Nwako Kanu, Sunday Oliseh,Tijani Babangida,Celestine Babayaro,Thelate Rashidi Yekini,Victor Ikpepa,Finidi Goerge ,Taribo West the list is endless the display skills, flair and keep our faces smiling I’m not 9gerian but I hardly forget the above mention players. The current crop of players play like de are forced to play. They miss lot of chances I think 9geria is far better than Ghana but de fail decimal in world stage I don’t know why.I like 9geria football but the currect players embarass me .

Why didn’t Nigeria convince Angelo Ogbonna to play for his country ?
mbanzai: 2012-06-14 16:27
@Game147, Siasia was negotiating that with the player, and things were looking very positive, just like with Nedum Onuoha. But with the current scatter-scatter situation with our football, who in their right minds would risk playing for Nigeria.
Victor Anichebe was very passionate, he was selected by Siasia, now the same Anichebe is being ignored.
I hardly comment here anymore, like I said earlier, my new resolution is “siddon look”.
mbanzai: 2012-06-14 16:33
For all those people predicting an eagles victory with a high goal margin: All I can say is – I admire your optimism or (in this case)wishful thinking.
icethug: 2012-06-14 17:06
@redskin you have said it all, nothing to say again, make we dey look, if i had a bomb, i wish i could go back in time and bomb the parliament that asked fro independence from the British, we would have been better off as a nation under the british, we are too diverse to have one mind.
edifugy: 2012-06-14 17:50

mike: 2012-06-14 17:51
Icethug, idris, and redskin you are the reason white racists throw bananas at us and call us monkeys. In this day and age you still believe in this oyibo superiority.
9jaboi4life: 2012-06-14 18:17
@icethug: Brother, i think you need help to break loose from the shackles of the slave/colonial master’s mentality. How on earth will an african at this time and age be reasoning so dumbly. I think you’ve been smoking too much pot or probably you’ve lived your entirely life drinking beer. Wake up you bozo!!!

Why are we recycling all this coaches that will never bring progress to Nigerian football? Well, it is all about egunje. Nigeria is all about chop I chop. Maybe the honorable minister did not get some egunje from Mr. Saintfeit if not, what else can I say? Nigerian football is at the lowest level now not because we don’t have the players but rather because we keep employing all this inept and low-brainier coaches to coach the SE.
The money we spend on Keshi is as good as we can pay a more technically sound coach out there. The gospel truth which I think none of you wants to hear is that we don’t have a good coach as of today in Nigeria. And as long as we don’t have a good Nigerian coach now, please employ any good coach regardless if he is from Ghana, Rwanda, Onyibo or whatever as long as he is good. The only time Nigeria reached its potential in football was when IBB govt. looked into the mirror and understands that our local coaches don’t have what it takes and employ Westerhof.
I think for now, the Nigerian football is going through a period of experimentation because I don’t even know any country with its right mind that will have players such as Mikel, Osaze, Obi (of Inter) etc, and still be having concerns over Malawi and Rwanda? It is a shame! Well, let’s find out why when these players play in their foreign clubs, they play very well but when they come here to play for Nigeria, they can’t perform. The problem is not the players but rather the coaches. We don’t have good coach who can actually coach these guys who plays for some of the best coaches in the world for their foreign clubs. The earlier Nigeria realizes this, the better for our football.
Did you see Amokachi running around on the field like a chicken without a head? In a game, Amokachi will be shouting or screaming at the touchline like a mad dog without direction while Keshi will be doing the same at the same time…wow! Can this happen if we have a foreign coach? Maybe you guys should tell me if you know who is ****nal, Man-U, Chelsea etc. assistant coach? Only in Nigeria…therefore, as long as we keep experimenting with all this “junks” we call coaches, we will keep shivering about playing teams from Malawi, Rwanda, Niger, etc.

@mike @9jaboi4life, redskin never suggested oyibo superiority, read his comments properly. His opinion about employing the oyibo man was simply stressing that an outsider would work without any ethnic or religious bias and prejudice. That is not worshipping the white man, it is simply the bitter and painful truth.

This is from Nigerian Tribune:
Saintfeit threatens Nigeria with FIFA
Written by Emmanuel Mbeki, Abuja
Thursday, June 14, 2012
BELGIAN coach, Tom Saintfeit, says he is surprised by Nigeria’s decision to upturn his appointment as the country’s Director of technical matters, saying he would seek redress from football-governing body, FIFA.
Two days ago, Nigeria’s Sports Minister, Mallam Bolaji Abdulahi, asked the Technical Department of the Nigeria Football Federation,(NFF) to jettison the appointment of Saintfeit and look for indigenous expert to fill the post of a Technical Director.
Speaking from his base in Brussels yesterday on phone to Sportswriters, Saintfeit said, he found it difficult to take in what he read in the media on the development, though he has not been officially informed by the NFF.
“Look I have an agreement with the NFF, and on issues like this FIFA has their way of dealing with it”, hinting that he may resort to the world soccer governing body for remedy.”
”I am shocked by this development, this is because I have been working in Africa before now, and I must add that am highly disappointed”, he bellowed from the speaker phone.
He reasoned aloud that things are not done like that without due consideration for the other party.
”I have had to call off other deals with other countries because of the NFF deal” he continued as he posits that he is awaiting the position of the nation’s football house itself, before deciding the next line of action, though he has hinted that FIFA is his next port of call.
When contacted, Acting General Secretary of the NFF, Barrister Musa Amadu was not forthcoming with the official position of the Glasshouse on the issue as he said he needed to make some consultation before reacting to the issue.

@9jaboi4life you are the one who should wake up, 51 years of “independence” no water, no light, no good roads, high unemployment, no welfare from Government, no unemployment allowance, corruption, few people are enriching themselves to the detriment of others, and you arec proud, i restate again, we would have been better off as a nation if the British were still in power, go to Australia and Canada they are still under the British. My guy you wake up and tell your self the truth.

I am suprised at the turn of events on nigeria soccer , In the 90s a,apart from the big european teams like Germany, Italy, etc we almost knew all the super eagles players,so many kenya soccer youngster then called themselves Okocha,Oliseh etc.;But know it is hard to tell when their best eleven play in teams as obsecure as Warri brothers,it is the case of low ateam can be they should drop the name super eagles and adopt super chicken since there are many eagles like Mali overing around….Most respect though is to Kanu,Oliseh,Okocha,Lawal,Finidi,Amunike(watched him playing, very great left footer)Amokachi,Yekini, etc they were dedicated and passionate.
