THE Nigeria Police is collaborating with its Cameroonian counterpart to apprehend the kidnappers of the seven French nationals once they cross over the Nigerian border.

Towards this end, the Nigeria Police had  mounted a water-tight security at the Cameroonian border with Nigeria in the Northern axis.

The Inspector-General of Police, M.D. Abubakar, who disclosed this on Wednesday while answering questions from newsmen after receiving the Nigerian Football Federal chairman, Alhaji Aminu Maigari and the Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi, said he was already in touch with the Cameroonian ambassador and their authorities.

Alhaji Maigari and Keshi had come to present the African Nations Cup which was won in South-Africa a fortnight ago to the IGP.

Speaking further on the kidnapped French nationals, the IGP said they were making efforts to track and intercept the kidnappers and free the French nationals once they cross over to Nigeria.

French President, Francois Hollande, on Tuesday, accused the Boko Haram Islamic sect of being behind the kidnapping of a French family of seven, including four children in Northern Cameroon on Monday.

According to him, “I see the hand of Boko Haram in that part of Camerron, because france is in Mali and it will continue until its mission is completed.”

Earlier, the IGP, while welcoming the team, said he had always believed in Keshi, “I told him this and I believe in the football family.”

The IGP appealed to Nigerians to continue to give support to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), as running football was more complex and technical.

He said “today, even the doubting ‘Thomases’ now believe in Keshi and NFF and I will continue to give you the support, we may not get the World Cup now, but we will get it one day if we continue to do what is right.”
